WebP is an open image format introduced by Google in 2010. Understanding your conversion options
Quality

Troubleshooting
Common issues and how to fix them
WebP shows the same compression artifacts as the source JPG→
Re-encoding cannot remove artifacts already present in the JPG. Start from the highest-quality original available, and avoid very low quality settings, which add new artifacts on top.
Output WebP is larger than the source JPG→
This happens when the JPG was already heavily compressed. Lower the WebP quality to 75-80, or keep the original JPG if it is already small enough.
Colors look slightly different in some applications→
File Studio does not copy embedded ICC color profiles into the output, so color-managed apps treat the result as sRGB. Most images are already sRGB and look identical. Images authored in Display P3 or Adobe RGB can look slightly less saturated; convert them to sRGB in your editor before converting if exact color matters.
Some platforms reject the WebP upload→
A few older platforms and email clients still do not accept WebP. Keep the JPG for those destinations and use WebP on your website.
